One of my favorite types of blog posts to read are book tags so while I was browsing on the internet as one does. I found this tag I haven’t done before. So, of course, I’m not tagged to do this one but I am pretty excited to answer the questions!
How Long Have You Been A Blogger?
For this blog, it will be my 2 year anniversary in July! However, this isn’t my first blog back in high school I took a couple years worth of web design and graphic design classes and one of our projects was to maintain a blog and each week post a blog post that used whatever we had been learning in class. This was my favorites classes while in school I loved learning how to adapt and change my blog. I really missed blogging after I left high school but I didn’t want to use my old blog so Arya’s Fangirl Lexicon was born!
At what point do you think you will stop?
When it stops being fun. I blog because I like the chance to talk about things I enjoy! My main goal of blogging is sharing what I think and interacting with other people so as long as I stick with those I don’t think I will be leaving anytime soon.
The only way I would leave is if I put to much pressure on myself. If I turned my blog into a job or only cared about the stats I don’t see any of that happening so I’m thinking I’ll be around for a while!
What is the best part?
Interacting with you guys! I love blog hopping and commenting on other people’s posts! As well as just chatting with everyone. I don’t have anyone in my personal life who likes things that I do like books, reading, video games, and more. However, the bookish community has been so open and friendly with me since I’ve joined and I couldn’t imagine a better place to spend my free time!
What is the worst part?
Not enough time in the day to devote to my blog. I love blogging but it is a dedication to keep posting and being involved in the community takes a lot of time as well. The time it takes to get a blog post the way I want it can take me a really long time if I have to make graphics it can take even longer and unfortunately I can’t always dedicate the time I need to my blog. This could probably be less stressful if I actually had an idea of what I was doing.
How long does it take you to find/create pictures to use?
An hour or two per image right now! This is mainly because I don’t ever have a concrete idea of what I want for my image. I’m currently working on a bottom to top redo of my blog and I can tell it is going to take forever since I’m so indecisive but once I figure it out it should make my blog look more cohesive as well as easier to make more images to match my overall theme since I don’t really have one right now!
Who’s your book crush?
I’m a little weird about book crushes! I don’t really have any. I love characters don’t get me wrong but when I like them it’s because I like them for the character that is in the book. Does that make sense? I love them as characters and want them to be happy and with the character that makes them happy but I don’t want them for myself. Sure I love some of their characteristics but just not for me!
What author would you like to have on your blog?
I’ve never had an author on my blog but I think it would be really cool! Hmm, tough question right now I am really obsessed with Joely Sue Burkhart and her series are amazing! I would love to pick her brain especially since Shara’s story is over for now.
What do you wear when you write your blog?
Anything other than my work uniform! As soon as I’m home I always switch out of my uniform into something more comfortable. I do notice that I am more productive when I am wearing clothing other than PJs but sometimes I can’t be bothered. Normally I look like the Gif below!
How long does it take you to prepare a post?
Probably an hour or two before I’m pretty happy with it! At the time of me writing this its been an hour since I started working on this post. It takes me so long though because I’m easily distracted. I’m sure if I buckled down I could have a post like this done in a shorter time and my more time-consuming ones in half the time if I didn’t blog hop and scroll through the internet at the same time. I’m working on it but I’m horrible!
How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?
Generally, I love it! I love being able to talk to people around the world who have the same interests as me. I love the kinship I’ve found and the support I’ve had. I’ve been so lucky to be able to ask a question and people being happy to help. I love when we can find things that connect as a group like readathons, readalongs, and memes. Unfortunately, there are always “bad seeds” and problems but I’m lucky to of not been in the middle of those problems and even luckier to have amazing bookish people around to support each other in tough times making it an amazing community that I love to come back to every day!
What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?
I don’t really think there is one way to be successful. No matter if your blog has thousands of followers or only a couple of followers the most important thing you can do is engage with other people and their blog or other social media. You get the most out of your blog if you engage with other people. It’s no fun talking to an empty room so spread the love! Nothing makes me happier than seeing that someone has commented or liked one of my posts. I love writing and sharing my thoughts but it’s always nice to see that someone else really liked what I said too! I try to make at least 30 minutes a day to do some blog hopping!
And that’s all the questions today! Anything that you do differently? Let me know in the comments below!
